HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – For the fifth time in just six collegiate tournaments,
Sam Jung led the charge for the George Mason men's golf team.
The freshman tied for 21st at the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular hosted by the Patriots on Sunday at Mission Inn Resort and Club. Jung has been the top Mason finisher in five tournaments this season. As a team, the Patriots finished seventh at 19-over 883 (299-293-291).
Jung posted a 4-over 220 (72-73-75) as the Centreville native finished in the top 25 for the fourth time in his young career. Graduate student
Connor Messick had the best round of the day for the Patriots, shooting a 2-under 70. The Virginia graduate transfer from Oak Hill, Va., moved up 30 spots and finished in a tie for 50th with a 10-over 226 (81-75-70).
Freshmen J.P. Miller (77-76-74) and
William Christian (74-81-72) both finished just one stroke back in a tie for 57th at 11-over 227. Junior
Jeff Wilson tied for 62nd at 12-over 228 (76-69-83).
Sophomore
Florian Blatti competed as an individual and tied for 81st at 16-over 232 (82-78-82). Junior
Takahiro Nojima also competed as an individual, tying for 85th at 19-over 235 (77-75-83).
The Patriots play their last tournament of the regular season on March 30-31 at the FAU Championship in Boca Raton, Fla.
