Annual Fund and Ways To Make A Gift

Patriot Club 728x90
Annual Fund Gifts help position our 22 programs to successfully compete.  As we aspire for success in academics and athletics, our more than 400 student-athletes are more reliant than ever on private financial support. Your gift supports the student-athlete experience through many ways, including scholarships, academic support, sport-specific operational needs, and facility upgrades.

The annual cost of a scholarship for just one student-athlete is $13,014 (in state) and $36,474 (out of state).

Gifts to the Patriot Club Fund, Patriot Club Scholarship Fund, Men's Basketball Seat Contribution Fund, and the Patriot Club Golf Outing support Mason Athletics' student-athlete scholarships.

Gifts made to Sport-Specific Friends of funds helps enhance the operational budgets and other necessary needs within a sport program to improve our student-athlete experience. Examples of uses for Friends of funds include travel, nutrition, recruiting, facility upgrades, and technologies.

A gift can be designated unrestricted, Friends of, or a combination of both.

Your gift makes a difference!

HOW TO MAKE A GIFT

Annual Cash Donations: Cash, checks made payable to the GMU Foundation, and MasterCard/Visa/American Express credit card transactions are the most common forms of annual support.

Matching Gifts: Many corporations match employee contributions. Gift credit is given for your personal donation and the company's matching gift. Contact your employer's human resources department to obtain the proper forms and to determine if your gift is eligible for a company match. Our EIN number is: 54-1603842.

Gifts Of Stocks Or Publicly Traded Securities: Gifts of publicly traded securities will be based on the full fair market value of the securities, and will be valued, recorded, receipted and acknowledged according to IRS (Internal Revenue Service) regulations. For wire transfer instructions, or if you have additional questions about making a gift of publicly traded securities, please contact the Patriot Club at masonpc@gmu.edu. Please use the following information for stock donations. A broker-to-broker transaction is the most efficient way to have a donation made.
(1) Our broker: Raymond James (2) Your transfer must reference George Mason University Foundation’s account name and account number; the DTC number is used by a broker to electronically transfer the securities: Account Name: George Mason University Foundation, Inc. Account Number: 218UF058 DTC Number: 0725

Donor Advised Funds: A donor advised fund (DAF), which is like a charitable savings account, gives you the flexibility to recommend how much and how often money is granted to us and other qualified charities. You can recommend a grant or recurring grants now to make an immediate impact or use your fund as a tool for future charitable gifts.

IRA or Qualified Charitable Distribution: Make a difference today and save on taxes. Donors 70 (and a half) and older can give any amount (up to a maximum of $100,000) per year from your IRA directly to us without having to pay income taxes on the money. This popular gift option is commonly called the IRA charitable rollover, but you may also see it referred to as a qualified charitable distribution, or QCD for short.

Gifts-In-Kind: Contributions of product, merchandise, software, equipment, or services are welcome.
