Fairfax, Va. – The George Mason men's golf team heads into the final round of the 11th Annual Mountaineer Invitational in 14th place, one stroke behind rival VCU. The two-day tournament features 19 teams, including five nationally ranked programs, highlighted by No. 5 Arkansas.
Sophomore
Vaughn McMeans lead the Patriots today with a three-over-par (73-74) performance at the Par 72, 7,308-yard Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, West Virginia.
The five ranked teams and host WVU are the top six teams on the leaderboard. No. 36 Clemson (-8) is the team leader heading into the final tomorrow by one stroke over host WVU (-7), and No. 5 Arkansas (-6). No. 8 Texas Tech (-5) and No. 6 Oklahoma State (-3) are not far behind.
George Mason has competed in the Mountaineer Invitational three times, with its best finish 8
th in October 2021. The Patriots posted a ninth place finish last year and 11th in April 2021.
