Fairfax, Va. – The George Mason men's golf team wrapped up the 11th Annual Mountaineer Invitational tied for 11th place with Villanova. The two-day tournament featured 19 teams, including five nationally ranked programs, highlighted by No. 5 Arkansas.
Sophomore
Vaughn McMeans lead the Patriots with a two-under-par (73-74-67) performance at the Par 72, 7,308-yard Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, West Virginia. He notched an eagle on the Par 5, Hole 15 and added four birdies to score his best round of the event (67) today.
David Fuhrer carded his best round of the tournament today, a 2-under-par 70 to finish 54th overall. The sophomore had four birdies on the day.
The five ranked teams and host WVU finished in the top six on the leaderboard led by No. 36 Clemson (-20), followed by host WVU (-16), and No. 8 Texas Tech. TCU and No. 6 Oklahoma State (-9) finished fourth, while No. 5 Arkansas finished sixth.
Sophomore
Joe Johnson won the Bridgeport Collegiate played by the teams individual golfers at nearby Bridgeport Country Club. The transfer from Radford finished 7-under-par at the Par 72, 6352-yard course. The Leesburg, native fired a 5-under-par 67 in the final round.
