Fairfax, Va. – The George Mason men's golf team will travel to the 11th Annual Mountaineer Invitational, held at the Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, West Virginia. The two-day tournament will feature 18 teams, including five nationally ranked programs, highlighted by No. 4 Oklahoma State.

George Mason has competed in the Mountaineer Invitational three times, with its best finish 8th in October 2021. The Patriots posted a ninth place finish last year and 11th in April 2021.

Vaughn McMeans led the Patriots with a standout performance at the 2025 edition, placing seventh overall in a field of 100 competitors.

McMeans delivered a stellar one-under-par 71 in today's final round, climbing 14 spots on the leaderboard to earn his third collegiate top-10 finish. McMean's consistent play helped anchor the team's overall performance across the tournament. The only non-pars on the final round were four birdies, one bogey and one double-bogey at the Par 72, 7,308-yard course.

Host West Virginia has captured four team titles at the event (2024, April 2021, 2019, and 2018). Past champions also include Bowling Green (2017), Arkansas (2016), and Penn State, who won the inaugural tournament in 2015. NC State, ranked No. 8 at the time, claimed victory in October 2021, while No. 21 Oklahoma State won the 2025 and 2023 titles.

This year's tournament will begin with 36 holes on Monday in a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m., followed by 18 holes on Tuesday with tee times scheduled between 8:00–10:00 a.m. The Pete Dye Golf Club is a par-72 course stretching 7,308 yards.
