FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason softball team (11-26, 3-9 A-10) will return to the George Mason Softball Complex to host a single Wednesday game with Georgetown (10-22, 1-11 Big East) at 4 p.m.

A LOOK AT THE PATRIOTS
Because last Tuesday's doubleheader at George Washington was
postponed due to inclement weather, Mason only played a three-game weekend series at Saint Joseph's on April 6 & 7. The Hawks swept the Patriots, winning all three games.
In
Saturday's doubleheader, the Patriots lost Game One 8-3 and were shutout 6-0 in Game Two. In Game One,
Rachel Warrens (.388 / .406 / .513) hit a two-run triple in the top of the third inning. Before that triple, Saint Joseph's had been the only team in the Atlantic 10 not to have given up a triple this season. Later in the inning in Game One,
Marlaina Bozek (.309 / .381 / .418) hit an RBI single to tie the game 3-3. However, the Hawks would score five unanswered runs throughout the rest of the game to win 8-3.
The Patriots would be shutout in Game Two, but they outhit the Hawks nine to eight. Three Patriots went 2-for-3, which were Bozek,
Maddy Myers (.252 / .320 / .324) and
Elyssa DeRosa (.289 / .341 / .316). Freshman
Dara Sharpe (.200 / .273 / .200) recorded her first collegiate hit in Game Two as well, hitting a single up the middle in the third inning.
In
Sunday's finale, the Patriots stormed back to take a late 3-2 lead in the top of the seventh, but the Hawks were able to answer in the bottom of the inning and score two runs to win the game. Bozek hit her first home run of the season in the top of the third inning with a solo shot to center field to tie the game at 1-1. After Saint Joseph's retook the lead with a solo home run of their own, the score would remain 2-1 until the top of the seventh. With two outs and a runner on first,
Logan Pickford (.186 / .230 / .357) hit a two-run home run to give the Patriots the lead. Pickford now leads the team in home runs with three.
Unfortunately for Mason, the Hawks were able to rally and score two runs in the bottom of the seventh, walking off the Patriots and sweeping the weekend series.
