WASHINGTON, D.C. – George Mason senior second baseman Marlaina Bozek was named this week's Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday morning. This is Bozek's first career conference weekly honor and the softball team's second weekly award of the season.

Marlaina Bozek's consistent batting helped Mason get two crucial wins over the weekend, as she slashed .615/.667/.692 and recorded multiple hits in every game except one, where she went 1-for-2. Batting second in the order, the Washington, Pa., native went 8-for-13 (.615) with one double, three runs scored, two RBI, two walks, a stolen base and never struck out.

The senior went 3-for-4 in Game #1 against Stony Brook and also went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, a walk and an RBI in Game #2 of the Cornell game.

She led the Mason squad over the weekend in average (.615), on base percentage (.667), slugging (.667), and hits (8).

Bozek and the Patriots (6-9) will hit the road for their fourth and final tournament of the regular season this weekend, March 8-10, as they will travel to Conway, S.C., to participate in the Beach Chicken Brawl, hosted by Coastal Carolina. Along with the Chanticleers, the Patriots will face Boston and Ohio. Friday and Saturday will feature doubleheaders against Coastal Carolina and Boston, while Sunday's finale will be a single game against Ohio.
