PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The George Mason women's soccer team (1-12-0, 1-4-0 A-10) will return to Sweeney Field in Philadelphia and face Saint Joseph's (2-6-5, 2-1-2 A-10) in a rescheduled game on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 5 p.m. The Patriots and Hawks last played on Sept. 24, but the match was postponed due to the heavy rains from Tropical Storm Ophelia.

LAST TIME OUT
Last Sunday, Mason hosted Rhode Island in an afternoon match. The Patriots were downed by the Rams 3-0.

Mason had two close chances to score in the game. The first chance came in the 16th minute, when sophomore forward Sophie Davidson chipped the ball from outside the box and over the Rhode Island goalkeeper's head. The ball hit the crossbar of the open net and bounced out. Their second opportunity came in the 84th minute when freshman Molly Starner took a strong shot from outside the box. Rhode Island's goalkeeper, Faith Hutchins, reached out to her left side and was able to stop the ball midair with a clean catch.

In the final minutes of the game, Mason's goalkeeper Ginny Fronk stood tall and made a last-second diving save to preserve the final score. Rhode Island's Sam Hagerty was on a lone breakaway that started from the half line. Fronk first stood her ground, then timed her run towards the sprinting Ram. She then dove to her left and smothered the ball, preventing Rhode Island from another potential score.

SCOUTING SAINT JOSEPH'S
The Hawks finished their non-conference schedule 0-5-3, with their losses coming from Bucknell, Drexel, Lafayette, Hofstra and Temple. They drew to William & Mary, Lehigh and Temple.

In the A-10, however, Saint Joseph's has started their conference recording scoreless draws to Rhode Island and Chicago and winning over Richmond 3-2.

In the two games after the postponed match with Mason, the Hawks beat George Washington 3-1 on Sept. 28 and lost their first A-10 match to cross-town rival La Salle 2-0. They now have a 2-1-2 conference record.

Out of the 15 teams in the A-10 standings, the Rams are currently placed in 8th. The Patriots, on the other hand, are in 13th.
Senior defenders Maddie Anderson and Chloe Khelil both lead the team in goals with two-a-piece. Anderson scored both of her goals in Saint Joseph's win over Richmond on Sept. 17, while Khelil scored her first goal against Temple on Sept. 7 and her second against Richmond.

Five other Hawks have one goal this season. Senior forward Sam Dumont scored her goal against Lafayette on Aug. 31 and recorded an assist during the Richmond game. Freshman midfielder/forward Nicole Everard scored her goal against Lehigh on Aug. 24. Three other forwards scored their first goals of the season. Sophomore Natalee Vicari and freshmen Juliette Muro and Emily Hanrahan recorded their goals on Sept. 28 in Saint Joseph's 3-1 victory at George Washington.

Sophomore forward Natalee Vicari is the main facilitator, as she leads the team in assists with three. She tabbed her first assist during the Lehigh game and accounted for two more during the Richmond game. Not far behind Vicari is senior midfielder/forward Natalie Nevins, who has two assists. She was credited for one assist in both the Temple and Richmond games. Same Dumont also recorded her second assist during the George Washington game.

Senior Katie Cappelletti has been the sole goalkeeper for Saint Joseph's. The Fayettville, N.Y., native has started all 13 games and has also recorded three shutouts, which were scoreless draws against William & Mary (Aug. 20), Rhode Island (Sept. 14) and Loyola Chicago (Sept. 21). In the A-10, Cappelletti is eighth in goals against average (1.273) and ninth in save percentage (.750).
