PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – After puddles started to form in the penalty area of Sweeney Field due to the heavy rains, Sunday's match between the George Mason women's soccer team (1-10-0, 1-2-0 A-10) and Saint Joseph's (1-5-5, 1-0-2 A-10) was halted in the 27th minute and was ultimately postponed an hour later.

Before the game was called for a rain delay, Saint Joseph's scored an early goal off of a penalty. In the 3rd minute, the Hawks took a shot at Mason's goal, but the ball struck a Patriot defender's arm. Saint Joseph's was awarded a penalty and Natalie Nevins elected to take the kick. Mason goalkeeper Ginny Fronk guessed that the ball would go to the left, but Nevins' shot went to the bottom right of the goal.

Other than the early goal, neither team could establish firm possession of the ball. The referee then stopped play in the 27th minute after seeing puddles starting to form inside the Hawks' penalty box. After an hour of waiting and seeing that the weather was not going to let up, the game was officially postponed.
