PRINCETON, N.J. – The George Mason men's and women's track and field teams collected a bevy of medals at the ECAC/IC4A Championships last weekend.

The women's 4x100-meter relay team led the way, winning gold as the Patriots women garnered a total of three medals and finished seventh at the ECAC Championships on Sunday at Weaver Stadium on the campus of Princeton University. The Mason men won two medals and finished 20th at the IC4A Championships.

The 4x100-meter relay team of freshmen Kiana Stallworth and GJaudy John-Wallace, sophomore Taylor Williams and junior Sarah Moore finished first in a time of 45.89, edging Towson (46.0).

The women's 4x400 team of seniors Ashley Lucas and Sharon Dorsey and sophomore Ashley Lewis and Moore took second with a time of 3:40.77. The Patriots finished just behind VCU, which won the race in 3:39.24 and avenged last weekend's loss to Mason at the A-10 Championships.

Senior Shelby Garnand also won a silver medal, placing second in the pole vault with a leap of 12 feet, 10 1/4 inches.

On the men's side, junior Blaine Lacey earned a silver medal in the 800-meter run. He finished in 1:50.32, just behind champion Marc Rienas (1:50.10) of Northeastern. The 4x400-meter relay team of freshman Ian Christian, redshirt sophomores Evander Pierre and Tyler Benson and junior Rico Gomez took bronze with a time of 3:11.01. The Patriots finished behind champ VCU (3:10.54) – which narrowly lost to Mason at the A-10 Championships a week ago – and LIU Brooklyn (3:11.0).

A handful of Mason student-athletes on the men's and women's teams will now find out later this week if their times or marks qualify them for the NCAA East Preliminary Championships on May 24-26 at the University of South Florida in Tampa. The top 48 declared times or marks in each individual event and the top 24 relays in the East region qualify for the regional meet.
