BRONX, N.Y. – The George Mason men's and women's cross country teams ended their season with a flurry.
Both teams finished fourth at the IC4A/ECAC Championships on Saturday at Van Cortlandt Park. Four runners for the women's team (Siobhra O'Flaherty,
Ciara Donohue,
Khalilah Hamer and
Margaret Morgan) earned All-ECAC honors for finishing in the top 40. In addition, three on the men's side (
Jonathan Schloth,
Trent Lancaster and
Dustin Jutras) earned All-East accolades.
The women posted a score of 141 to take fourth behind champion Temple (23), runner-up Marist (99) and Stony Brook (135). In the men's field, the Patriots also finished fourth with a score of 147, behind only champion Stony Brook (25), runner-up Temple (72) and Northeastern (114). The men's and women's fields each featured 18 teams.
O'Flaherty, a freshman from Carlow, Ireland, led the way by placing fourth. She finished the 5K race with a personal-best time of 17:06 for the second top-five finish of her career.
Donohue ended her career by placing 19th with a time of 17:32 to earn All-ECAC honors for the second straight year. Hamer, a junior, took 27th in 17:42 and Morgan, also a junior, placed 37th with a time of 17:54. Senior
Carolyn Conley rounded out Mason's top five by placing 63rd in 18:27.
On the men's side, graduate students Scholth and Lancaster continued to lead the way for the Patriots. Schloth finished 13th with a time of 23:16 on the 8K course with Lancaster not far behind in 16th in 23:23. Jutras, also a graduate student, also placed 30th in 23:43. Juniors
Ethan Newland (46th, 24:00) and
Thomas Amabile (50th, 24:08) completed Mason's top five runners by finishing in the top 50 in a field that featured more than 150 runners.
