First Round Results

POWELLS POINT, N.C. – Back in his home state for the second straight week, Eric Edwards picked up right where he left off.

The George Mason senior is tied for fourth after shooting a 4-under 67 in the first round of the ODU/OBX Collegiate on Sunday at Kilmarlic Golf Club. Edwards, a native of Salisbury, North Carolina, finished third at the Phoenix Invitational on Tuesday in Burlington, North Carolina.

As a team, the Patriots are in eighth place after shooting a 2-over 286 (67-71-71-77). The second round begins with tee times at 8:30 a.m. on Monday.

Edwards sunk five birdies and carded just one bogey as he recorded his fourth consecutive round of sub-70. In addition to Edwards, sophomore Davis Soderberg and senior Ellis Messian shot even-par as both tied for 23rd.

Senior Brock Kovach shot a 6-over 77 to tie for 76th and freshman Florian Blatti, making his collegiate debut, shot a 7-over 78 to tie for 82nd.
