LAST TIME OUT
Last Sunday, Mason hosted longtime rival George Washington on Alumni Day at George Mason Stadium. The Patriots won their second game of the season and first match at home by the score of 2-1.

The Patriots took the lead in the 53rd minute, thanks to a Molly Starner rebound. Off of a Mia Casciani corner, the ball bounced around dangerously in front of the mouth of the goal. Freshman forward Molly Starner was then able to finally put away her first career goal by squeezing the jammed ball out of the bottom left corner of the goal and over the goal line. Starner had a game-high five shots with two on goal.

This also marked Mason's first goal scored at home all season.

The Patriots had a chance to double their lead five minutes later. In the 58th minute, sophomore Sophie Davidson was taken down by George Washington's Avril Silva inside of the penalty box, resulting in a penalty kick for Mason. Sophomore Mia Casciani was chosen to take the shot from 12 yards out, but it was ultimately saved by GW's Grace Crowe.

The Revolutionaries tied the game in the 71st minute off an Alexa Meinen goal. Midfielder Aoi Kataoka placed a through ball to the running Revolutionary who was able to connect with the ball in stride with a left-footed one-timer from just inside the penalty box. The ball tailed away from the diving Ginny Fronk and hit the top-right corner of Mason's net, leveling the game at one-a-piece.

It would not be tied for long. In the 80th minute, captain Milan Pierre-Jerome recovered a loose ball in Mason's attacking third, evaded two GW defenders and scored on a right-footed shot inside the penalty box. This was Pierre-Jerome's first game-winning goal as a Patriot.

The Patriots were able to keep the Revolutionaries from scoring again in the final 10 minutes of the match to secure the win.

SCOUTING ST. BONAVENTURE
St. Bonaventure finished their non-conference schedule with a 1-2-4 record, recording their one win against Niagara 2-1 on Aug. 31. Their two losses were to Cleveland State (Aug. 20, 3-1) and Canisius (Sept. 6, 2-0), while they tied to Eastern Michigan (Aug. 17, 2-2), Marist (Aug. 24, 0-0), Detroit Mercy (Aug. 27, 1-1) and Robert Morris (Sept. 3, 2-2).

The Bonnies started A-10 play going unbeaten in their first three matches, drawing to Dayton (Sept. 14, 0-0) then winning back-to-back games at Davidson (Sept. 17, 1-0) and Fordham (Sept. 21, 3-1). They are currently on a five-game winless streak, having lost four of the last five matches.

Their five-game skid includes back-to-back losses to Duquesne (Sept. 24, 2-0) and Richmond (Oct. 1, 2-1), a scoreless draw to UMass (Oct. 8), followed by another set of back-to-back losses, this time to Rhode Island (Oct. 12, 2-1) and VCU (Oct. 15, 1-0).

Out of the 15 teams in the A-10 standings, the Bonnies are currently placed in 11th with eight points. The Patriots, on the other hand, are in 12th with six.
In terms of goal production and defense, the Bonnies are middle of the table in the conference. Their 14 goals scored puts them in 10th while they are 8th in goals against with 19.

Four Bonnies make up the team's 14 goals on the season. Sophomore forward Ami Komori leads the team with six goals, which is also good for fourth-best in the conference. Not far behind Komori on the Bonnies squad is other fellow sophomore forward Olivia Allen, who has five goals on the season. Junior defender Sydney Haward has recorded two goals, and McKenna Robinson rounds out the scoring with one on the year.

In terms of assists, Olivia Allen leads the Bonnies with four. Tied for second are McKenna Robinson and sophomore defender Hannah Walker with two each. Four other Bonnies have one assist, and they are forwards Chanel Alexander & Alexa Martinos and defenders Bridget Kennedy & Lauren Westwood.

In goal, junior Chiara Gottinger has been the main goalkeeper for the Bonnies. The Austrian native has played in 14 games and leads the conference in saves per game with 5.50. Mason's Ginny Fronk is second in the conference, saving an average 5.29 shots per game in 17 games played. Gottinger is also fifth in the conference in save percentage with .811.
HISTORY WITH THE BONNIES
Mason has matched up with St. Bonaventure a total of six times, with the first game dating back to November 7, 2013, in the A-10 Tournament Quarterfinals, where the Bonnies would go on to win the game 1-0. Since then, the Patriots have won three matches, lost one more and tied the Bonnies. The Patriots now lead the head-to-head matchups against St. Bonaventure with a 3-2-1 record.

With the exception of Mason's 5-0 victory over the Bonnies on Oct. 1, 2015 and last year's 1-1 draw in Olean, N.Y., each game has ended with a 1-0 scoreline. Both the Patriots and Bonnies have two 1-0 wins on each other in the series.

The last time St. Bonaventure traveled to Fairfax was on Sept. 30, 2021, when the Patriots won 1-0.
