ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – After a week's rest, the George Mason women's soccer team returned to action blanking St. Bonaventure, 5-0, to open Atlantic 10 Conference play on the road Thursday night. The Patriots saw a pair of goals from both Sarah Hardison and Jenna Hamilton with an additional goal from Alex Myers to take the win.
MATCH NOTES
-Sarah Hardison opened Mason's scoring with the first two goals of the night, marking her sixth and seventh goals of the season.
-Both of Hardison's goals came off crosses from Emma Starr (13:28) and Erin Mitchell (34:26).
-Mason carried a 2-0 lead into halftime behind Hardison and four saves from Mason goalkeeper Kirsten Glad.
-Jenna Hamilton scored her first goal of the evening in the 63rd minute for her first goal of the season, giving Mason a 3-0 lead. Hamilton scored off a cross from Nia Elbeck.
-Alex Myers cushioned Mason's lead with a blast from 25-yards out in the 72nd minute for a 4-0 Patriot lead.
-Mason continued to attack for the entire match, scoring its last goal at the 85:13 mark from Hamilton. Hamilton beat out the goalkeeper and scored on an open goal.
-The last time Mason scored five goals in a match dates back to a 7-0 victory over VMI on September 8, 2010.
