Game Recap: Women's Soccer |
OLEAN, N.Y. – The George Mason women's soccer team tied against St. Bonaventure in Thursday night's away game. The Patriots record their second draw of the A-10 season and now have a conference record of 0-2-2.

HOW THEY SCORED
GEORGE MASON

83' | Mia Casciani (1)

ST. BONAVENTURE
46' | Cristina Torres, assisted by Christine Napoli

The first half saw no goals, but the game started off with some near misses from both sides. St. Bonaventure had a free kick rattle off the crossbar while Patriot Ashley Shimberg's shot off a Patriot offensive breakaway went wide. Michi Hooks tried to follow up with a shot of her own but failed to convert as well. The Patriots would go into the half leading in stat categories such as shots, shots on goal and corner kicks.

The Bonnies scored one minute into the second half.  A free kick from midfield landed into the box, where, after it bounced off a few Patriots and Bonnies, Cristina Torres took a shot after the ball bounced off the turf. The ball flew into the top right corner of the goal, and the Bonnies took the lead.

Mason applied the offensive pressure even more, especially in the last 20 minutes of the game. Freshman forward Mia Casciani had a chance to level the game in the 70th minute, but her shot from outside the box went inches from the left post. She would not miss her next opportunity, however, just 13 minutes later. After Milan Pierre-Jerome's free kick from the right side of the box was sent in, the Bonnies' goalkeeper Chiara Gottinger punched the ball away from goal, but landed the ball right in front of the Patriot forward. Mia Casciani cleaned up the rebound and slotted the ball in the top right corner of the goal, leveling the game. The game would ultimately end in a 1-1 draw.
