Patriots Edge Out St. Bonaventure on Thursday Night

FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's soccer team improve to 4-8 and 2-2 in the A-10 after defeating St. Bonaventure (3-6-3, 1-3 in the A-10) by a score of 1-0 on Thursday night inside George Mason Stadium.
 
Possession of the ball was split evenly amongst the Patriots and the Bonnies. St. Bonaventure tallied 13 total shots (four on goal). Mason tallied one goals on 19 total shots (six on goal). Senior Louisa Moser earns the win and tallies her first shutout of the season.
 
Freshman Hailey Martinez scored the game winning goal for the Patriots off an assist from junior Grace Hotaling . This was Martinez's second goal of the season and second game winning goal in A-10 play. Hotaling adds another assist for the season, tallying her fifth assist.
 
Seniors Sara Chontosh and Dacheka Kolcum (one on goal) each tallied four shots in the contest. Senior Kolbrún Eyjólfsdóttir and junior Grace Hotaling (two on goal) each recorded two shots in the match. Seniors Naja Ashman and Shannon Lee (one on goal), junior Kaitlyn Butcher, sophomore Katie Saunders, and freshmen Hailey Martinez (one on goal), Lea Spittka (one on goal), and Serena Spitz all tallied one shot in the match.

"Going into this game we knew it was going to be a battle against a very hard working and tough St. Bonaventure team. We found a way to win it together in a much better second half for us. It was crucial for us at this point in conference play to get the win. We have good momentum and energy going into our game on the road at Dayton."
