KINGSTON, R.I. – The George Mason University women's soccer team (1-9-5) will be in Kingston, R.I. this Sunday, October 16, as they face off against Rhode Island (2-8-6).

LAST TIME OUT
The Patriots are coming off a
scoreless draw against Saint Joseph's last Thursday evening. Senior
Jester Hutchison recorded their first shutout of their career and the Patriots outshot the Hawks seven to four. The draw also snapped a two-game losing skid for the Patriots and picked up a point in the A-10 Conference standings. The Patriots hope to secure a conference win in their penultimate road game of the season.
SCOUTING RHODE ISLAND
The Rams won their first conference game of the season against St. Bonaventure last Sunday, October 9 by the score of 2-1. They then traveled to Saint Louis the following Thursday, where the No. 10 Billikens blanked the Rams 6-0.
Forwards Brooke Cavino and Tierra Garniss lead the team in goals, both having four for the year. Midfielder/forward Tali O'Leary is third on the team with two goals, and four other Rams each have one goal (Hope Santaniello, Cristina Sallent, Francesca Highton & Erin Hopewell).
HISTORY WITH THE RAMS
Mason has matched up with Rhode Island a total of five times, with
the first game dating back to October 11, 2013 when the Patriots won 1-0. The Patriots are unbeaten against the Rams, giving the Green and Gold a firm lead in head-to-head matchups with a 4-0-1 record. The only tie in the series occurred on
October 5, 2014.
The last time these two teams met was last season on
October 21, 2021, when the Patriots won at home 3-2. This will be the first time Mason will travel to Kingston since
October 22, 2017, when the Patriots also won 3-2.
