FAIRFAX, Va. – Six Mason men's volleyball players were named to the 2019 Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) All-Conference team, the league announced on Tuesday.

Senior Will Calaman and juniors Hayden Wagner and Sam Greenslade earned All-EIVA First Team honors while senior Kyle Barnes and redshirt sophomore Jack Reese tabbed All-EIVA Second Team. Redshirt sophomore Luis Velez rounded out the All-Conference honors with a place on the Honorable Mention Team.

This marks the second consecutive season, and just the seventh time ever, the Patriots boasted three or more players on the first team.

In addition, senior Aaron Cymbor and redshirt freshman Mike Kapusta were named to the EIVA All-Academic Team for the first time in their careers.

Calaman, a Virginia Beach, Va., native earned his first All-EIVA postseason award after leading the conference in total digs (178) and digs per set (2.34). The libero notched nine double-digit dig performances while collecting Off the Block's National Player of the Month award for February and EIVA Defensive Player of the Week on Feb. 18.

Wagner, a York, Pa., native put together one of the most impressive junior campaigns in school history. A four-time EIVA Offensive Player of the Week, Wagner set a program record for the most weekly honors in a season. He led the conference in kills per set (4.31) and ranked second in total kills (362). He has tabbed 22 double-digit kill performances this season, including 20 straight. His 713 career kills put him 11th all-time in the rally scoring era. This is the second straight season Wagner has earned All-EIVA First Team honors.

Greenslade, a Millersville, Pa., native burst onto the EIVA scene his junior season to rank second on the team in kills (206) and kills per set (2.42). The outside hitter also impressed from behind the service line, ranking third in the conference in aces per set (0.44). His six service aces against Barton are tied for the most in a four-set match this season. This is the first conference accolade of Greenslade's career.

Barnes and Reese notched their second straight season on an All-EIVA team. Barnes, a 2018 All-EIVA First Team selection, picks up All-EIVA Second Team honors after ranking third on the team in kills (170) and kills per set (2.07). He finished the regular season with five double-digit kill performances to place him 15th in the rally-scoring era at Mason. Reese was a force to be reckoned with at the net this season. The middle blocker finished second in the league with 1.16 blocks per set. A two-time EIVA Defensive Player of the Week, Reese reached a career-high 12 blocks against Grand Canyon on March 15. He also shined offensively, leading the conference with a .407 hitting percentage. He earns his second straight All-EIVA Second Team honor of his career.

Velez, a Guaynabo, Puerto Rico native earned the first postseason honor of his career, being named to the Honorable Mention Team. The setter was named All-EIVA Defensive Player of the Week twice this season. He improved the team's hitting percentage from .270 in 2018 to .295 in 2019. He finished the regular season with 530 assists, good for 8.03 assists per set, and two doule-doubles.

Cymbor and Kapusta were named to the EIVA All-Academic Team for the first time in their careers. Cymbor, a State College, Pa., native boasts the team's highest GPA of 3.57. The middle blocker will graduate in May with a degree in Music Technology. He appeared in 11 sets this year, providing a lift to Mason's service game. Kapusta, a management major, boasts a 3.38 GPA. Appearing in eight sets, the outside hitter has totaled 19 kills and 10 digs this season.

Mason finished the regular season with a 17-8 overall record and 10-4 conference mark. The Patriots earn the No. 2 seed in the EIVA Tournament, scheduled for April 18-20, and will meet No. 3 Penn State at 5 p.m. Thursday at Dillon Gym in Princeton, N.J.
