2019: Made the transition to middle blocker in his final season at Mason…The change was put on display when he notched the match-clinching block vs. Coker (Feb. 1)…Recorded a kill at Saint Francis (April 5) and Harvard (April 12).
2018: Made first appearance of the season at Princeton (March 31), notched two kills... Made first career start vs. Harvard (April 14) and tallied a career high seven kills, seven digs and posted his first career block. Also added a service ace to his career total...
2017: Appeared in four matches for a total of nine sets for the Patriots as a sophomore…picked up his first two career aces on back-to-back serves against Barton (March 24) to fire up the crowd in the RAC.
2016: Saw action in three matches…Tallied a kill against Lees-McRae (2/13).
Prep: Raised in the volleyball-rich culture of State College, Pa., Cymbor played the sport at the club level for the Nittany Elite Volleyball Club (3 years) and Revolution Volleyball Club (1 year) as well as throughout high school at State College Area High School. The outside hitter earned the Coaches' Choice Award in his sophomore year and impressed enough to be named the Little Lions' varsity captain for his junior and senior seasons. He stepped up to the challenge in his junior year and his impressive performances earned him the Impact Award and Georganna Michelotti Memorial Award. Cymbor left the team on a high note, earning another Coaches' Choice Award in his senior season. Although he did not plan to pursue an intercollegiate volleyball career initially, he tried out for the team in the fall, as a result of which he became the sixth newcomer on the Patriots' 2016 roster.
Personal: The oldest of Michael and Autumn Cymbor's three children. Intercollegiate athletics are in his blood with his mother a former softball and volleyball player at the McKeesport branch of Penn State and father a former baseball player at Gannon University. A passionate musician as well, Cymbor's major is Music Technology and his minor is Business. In his spare time, he likes to play piano, guitar and bass guitar, go skiing, and spend time with friends and family.
