FAIRFAX, Va. – For the third time this season,
Sam Jung has been recognized for his strong play on the golf course.
The George Mason freshman was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for his performances at the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate and the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular.
At the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate on March 4-6, he tied for 13th for his third top 15 finish of the season. He shot a 1-over 217 (74-71-72) to lead the Patriots.
Just last week, he tied for 21st at the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular, which Mason hosted March 16-17 at Mission Inn Resort and Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. He carded a 4-over 220 (72-73-75), marking the fifth time (out of six tournaments) the freshman from Centreville, Va., has been Mason's top finisher this season. Jung leads the Patriots in scoring average (73.25) and top 25 finishes (four).
The Patriots return to action this weekend with the FAU Spring Championship Friday through Sunday at the Osprey Point Golf Course in Boca Raton, Fla.
