FAIRFAX, Va. – A trio of George Mason track athletes garnered weekly accolades from the conference after success last weekend on the track.

Senior Sarah Moore was named the Atlantic 10 Women's Track Performer of the Week and freshman Kelly-Ann Downer was tabbed Women's Rookie of the Week. On the men's side, senior Rico Gomez earned A-10 Men's Track Performer of the Week honors.

Moore finished first in the 500-meter dash and helped the 4x400-meter relay team win gold at the Great Dane Classic on Saturday in Staten Island, N.Y.

Moore, a native of Silver Spring, Md., ran the fastest time in the A-10 this season with a time of 1:12.09 in the 500-meter dash. She also ran the second leg of the 4x400 as the Patriots won the race with a time of 3:44.62 – the fastest time in the A-10 this year.

Downer was also a member of 4x400-meter relay team and she took second in the 400-meter dash. The freshman from Kingston, Jamaica, ran the third leg of the 4x400. She was runner-up in the 400 with a time of 56.82, which is the second fastest time in the A-10 this year.

Gomez was the top collegiate runner in the 500-meter dash, placing third with a time of 1:03.41 at the Great Dane Classic on Saturday in Staten Island, N.Y. He has the top time in the Atlantic 10 this season. The sprinter from Upper Marlboro, Md., also finished sixth in the 200-meter dash and was the second collegiate runner to finish at a meet that featured numerous professional athletes. His time of 21.77 is the second-fastest in the A-10 this year.

The Patriots return to action this weekend with the Keydet Invitational hosted by VMI on Friday and Saturday in Lexington, Va.
