FAIRFAX, Va. – Just in time for cooler temps, the George Mason men's golf team will hit the links for its lone home tournament this weekend.
Mason hosts the Patriot Intercollegiate on Saturday and Sunday at Laurel Hill Golf Club in nearby Lorton. The three-round tournament features 15 teams and will be played over two days, with 36 holes on Saturday and 18 on Sunday.Â
A shotgun start will begin the first round at 8:15 a.m. on Saturday. The second round will begin later that day immediately after players complete the first round. The third round will be played Sunday, with tee times beginning at 8 a.m.
Mason welcomes 14 other teams to Laurel Hill: Atlantic 10 foes George Washington, La Salle, Rhode Island and Saint Joseph's along with Bethune-Cookman, Florida Atlantic, Hampton, Lafayette, Liberty, Towson, St. John's, USC Upstate, Wagner and West Virginia. Liberty and West Virginia will be competing as individuals only.
The Patriots, who finished seventh at the Patriot Intercollegiate last year, will be seeing competition for just the second time this season. Mason finished 13th at The Invitational at the Ocean Course two weeks ago at scenic Kiawah Island in South Carolina. Freshman
Sam Jung tied for 10th in his first collegiate tournament while junior
Jeff Wilson tied for 24th.
