Edwards, Kovach Earn A-10 All-Academic Accolades

FAIRFAX, Va. – For the second straight year, a pair of George Mason senior golfers has been recognized for its combined prowess in the classroom and on the course.

Both Eric Edwards and Brock Kovach were named to the Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Golf All-Academic Team for the second consecutive season.

Edwards finishes his collegiate career as both a three-time All-Conference selection and a three-time All-Academic recipient. The Salisbury, N.C., native, had three top 10 finishes this past season and tied for 18th at the Atlantic 10 Championship last month. He also led the team in scoring average (74.13). For his career, he finished in the top 10 a total of 10 times and shared medalist honors at the Elon Phoenix Invitational in 2016.

The finance major, who has made the A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll five times, set or tied 11 school records. That includes most career birdies (312) and most par or better rounds (43). His 71.70 stroke average in 2016-17 set the program's single-season scoring record.

Kovach, a native of Wyomissing, Pa., was named a Provost Scholar Athlete each of the last three years. The finance major and six-time A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll honoree ranked third on the team in scoring average (76.5). He posted the best finish of anyone on the team at the A-10 Championships with a 10-over 226 to tie for 11th. For his career, he set the school record for most career rounds played (118) and tied the program record for most rounds counted (101).
