FAIRFAX, Va. – A small contingency of student-athletes from the George Mason men's track and field team will compete on a grand stage this week.

Two distance runners and four throwers will partake in the prestigious Penn Relays Thursday through Saturday at historic Franklin Field on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

Redshirt junior Trent Lancaster will be the first Patriot to take the track, competing in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 7:40 p.m. on Thursday night. Redshirt junior Grayson Morgan will follow him up later in the night with the 10,000-meter run at 11 p.m.

Mason's throwers jump into the mix on Friday morning as freshman Benjamin Viau begins the day at 9 a.m. with the discus throw. Freshmen Avory Ransome and Jaylen Simmons then compete in the shot put at 1:15 p.m. Senior Pat Hodge wraps up the weekend with the men's hammer throw at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday.

The rest of the men's and women's track and field teams will focus on preparing for the Atlantic 10 Championships on May 5-6 at George Mason Stadium in Fairfax.
