FAIRFAX, Va. - Two pole vaulters from the George Mason track & field teams claimed this week's Atlantic 10 Field Performer of the Week honors, as Kennedy Drish and Walt Bannerman earned recognition for their standout performances at the Virginia Tech Challenge.
Drish was named A-10 Women's Field Performer of the Week for the third time this season following a record-breaking performance in Blacksburg. The junior cleared a personal-best 4.34m to place second at the meet, breaking the George Mason indoor school record of 4.30m set in 2014. After holding the top spot in the conference rankings throughout the indoor campaign, Drish extended her conference lead with the mark. She climbed to No. 25 on the NCAA Indoor Qualifying List, strengthening her standing among the top competitors in the country.
On the men's side, Bannerman collected his second Atlantic 10 Field Performer of the Week honor this season. The senior registered a season-best vault of 5.34m at the Virginia Tech Challenge, strengthening his hold on the top mark in the Atlantic 10. His performance also elevated him to No. 41 on the NCAA Indoor Qualifying List, continuing his strong national presence.
The Patriots return to action at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Championships, scheduled for Friday, February 27 through Saturday, February 28 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
