FAIRFAX, Va. – A few days after adding their names to the all-time lists, a pair of George Mason track athletes earned accolades from the Atlantic 10 Conference.
Junior
Blaine Lacey and sophomore
Ashley Lewis were named the A-10 Men's and Women's Track Performers of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. Both runners recorded two of the fastest times in Mason history in the 800-meter dash at the Scarlet & White Invitational in Boston on Saturday.
Lacey ran a time of 1:48.91 in the 800-meter run for the sixth-fastest time in program history. The Chesapeake, Va., native, finished eighth in the race and fifth among collegiate runners. His time currently ranks 13th nationally and first in the A-10.
Lewis, competing in her hometown of Boston, ran a time of 2:06.69 – the second-fastest time in school history and fastest by a Patriot in 21 years – to finish second in the 800-meter run on Saturday. She finished behind only Connecticut's Susan Aneno (2:05.82). Lewis' time is the fastest in the conference this season by nearly six seconds and ranks 26th nationally.
The Patriots return to action this weekend with the VMI Winter Relays on Friday and Saturday in Lexington, Va.
