FAIRFAX, Va. – For the second straight year, both the George Mason men's and women's soccer programs have been honored for their prowess in the classroom last school year.

Both squads received the 2017-18 College Team Academic Award from the United Soccer Coaches. Mason was one of just 198 schools to have both their men's and women's teams recognized.

To be eligible, teams had to post a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The Mason women registered a 3.44 cumulative GPA last year, earning the award for the 10th time, including each of the last three years. The men's squad recorded a 3.16 cumulative GPA to earn the award for the third time.

A total of 782 college soccer teams (293 men, 489 women) throughout all divisions were honored.
