Final Results
CENTREVILLE, Va. –
Eric Edwards began his senior season with his eighth career top 10 finish.
Edwards tied for sixth to lead George Mason at the Patriot Intercollegiate, which wrapped up after three rounds over two days on Tuesday at Chantilly National Golf and Country Club. As a team, the Patriots finished seventh at their season-opening tournament with a 31-over par 895 (293-294-308)
Edwards, a two-time Atlantic 10 All-Conference selection, N.C., shot a 1-over 217 (71-72-74) to tie for sixth. The Salisbury, N.C., native shot 2-over on Tuesday but moved up two spots on the final days thanks to three birdies.
Sophomores
Davis Soderberg (73-73-79) and
Jeff Wilson (77-71-77) tied for 33rd with a 9-over 225. Senior
Ellis Messian tied for 58th with a 8-over 230 (72-78-80). Senior
Brock Kovach rounded out Mason's top five by with 17-over 233 (77-78-78) to tie for 64th.
Individual and sophomore
Takahiro Nojima also tied for 64th with a 17-over 233 (78-79-76). Senior
Trevor Tremps tied for 70th with a 19-over 235 (74-81-80). Senior
Wonsuk Rhee tied for 91st after shooting 36-over par 252 (91-81-80).
Appalachian State won the team title with a score of 9-over 873, three better than Florida Gulf Coast and Delaware at 12-over 876. Appalachian State's Tripp shot a 7-under 209 for the tournament to claim medalist honors by four strokes.
The Patriots will have a quick turnaround as they head to Akron, Ohio for the Firestone Invitational at the prestigious Firestone Country Club on Monday and Tuesday.
