overall record of 23-11 and a 9-6 mark in the CAA. Mason is in the midst of a
six game winning streak, most recently rallying for an 8-6 win over Navy on
Wednesday.
Pitching helped lead the Patriots to a sweep
of VCU a week ago, as the staff continues to rank at the top of the CAA in
several categories. Going into the weekend, Mason has the second-best ERA (.367)
and third-best strikeout total (242), opponent batting average (.258) and walk

conference topping nine saves from closer Chris O'Grady.
On the offensive end, senior infielder Brig Tison
continues to lead the Patriots, hitting .387 with 55 hits, 33 runs scored, 11
stolen bases and a .451 on-base percentage. He entered the week tied for fourth
in the nation with 53 hits, adding to that total with a 2-for-4 showing at Navy
on Wednesday.
Senior designated hitter Zack Helgeson has a
team-best .630 slugging percentage, 13 doubles, nine home runs and 30 RBI's,
while redshirt sophomore outfielder Josh Leemhuis has reached base safely in 13
consecutive games along with sophomore first baseman Mick Foley, who has
reached in 12 consecutive games.
Northeastern comes into the weekend 13-15
overall and 3-9 in the CAA. They have been swept in their previous two CAA
weekend series against VCU and JMU, and recently saw a skid of eight games come
to an end with a 9-4 win against Harvard on Tuesday.
Sophomore outfielder Aaron Barbosa leads the
team with a .373 batting average, 44 hits and six stolen bases. Junior catcher John
Puttress, freshman infielder Jason Vosler and senior Matt Miller each have 19
runs scored, while Vosler has a team-high 27 runs batted in.
