Swimming and Diving Travels to Face William & Mary Saturday

FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's and women's swimming and diving teams are on the road to face William & Mary on Saturday with the meet scheduled to begin at noon in Williamsburg, Va.
 
Saturday's dual is the final meet before the George Mason hosts the annual Patriot Invitational Nov. 19-22 at the Aquatic and Fitness Center.
 
The Patriots last met the Tribe in a quad meet that also included Delaware and George Washington on Feb. 21, 2021 in Fairfax.  The Patriots' men's team won eight events and the women's team took the top spot in four events.
 
Last time out, George Mason competed in the two-day Richmond Duals Oct. 17-18 at the Hampton Aquaplex.  The Patriots' men's team won 11 events in their dual against Davidson and the women's team touched the wall first in four events against the Wildcats on day two.
 
Sophomore Ryan Serbia won three events on day two, the 100-yard breaststroke (56.58), 200-yard breaststroke (2:07.21) and 200-yard IM (1:53.62).
 
Junior Ian Rodgers recorded a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (20.85) and 100-yard butterfly (49.04).  Senior Tate Anderson won the 100-yard backstroke (49.52) and 100-yard freestyle (44.77).  Junior Christian Anderson won the one-meter diving event (267.60).
  
The Patriots swept the relay events, winning the 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle relay.
  
Freshman Sidney Kaufman won both the 100-yard backstroke (58.29) and 200-yard backstroke (2:07.13).  Senior Peyton Brehmer took first in the 50-yard freestyle (23.99) and 100-yard butterfly (57.59).

ABOUT THE PATRIOTS
 
The Mason men's team has 17 returners and five newcomers on the roster for the 2025-26 season.
 
The Patriots' men's team begins the season with five seniors, 10 juniors, two sophomores returning from last year's roster.  The returners will be joined by five newcomers including one graduate student and three freshmen.
 
Returning for the Patriots are seniors Aoun Al-Hiari (Alexandria, Va.), Tate Anderson (Fuquay-Varina, N.C.), Michael Bock (Apex, N.C.), Jack Chapman (Canandaigua, N.Y.) and Jett Lee (Centreville, Va.).
 
George Mason has 10 juniors with Christian Anderson (Fairfax, Va.), Alex Crown (Gainesville, Va.), Anthony Garono (Crozet, Va.), Jack Graham (Williamsburg, Va.), Ian Jones (Fredericksburg, Va.), Colby Lane (Fairfax, Va.), Colin Murtaugh (Roanoke, Va.), Ian Rodgers (Newport News, Va.), Cody Scifres (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Ryan Serbia (Edmond, Okla.).
 
Sophomores include Caden Guy (Oakton, Va.) and Gabriel Miller (Columbus, Ohio).
 
Four freshmen enter their first year with the Green and Gold, Robert Dykman, Brendan Lao (North Wales, Pa.), Erik Oman (Holly Springs, N.C.) and Andrey Radkevich (Yorktown, Pa.). 
 
Graduate student Agustin Rasche (Berlin, Germany) also joins the Patriots.
 
The Mason women's team has 18 returners and seven newcomers on the roster.
 
The Patriots' women's team begins the campaign with seven seniors, nine juniors and three sophomores.  They will be joined by six freshmen for the 2025-26 season.
The Patriots are led by seven seniors, Peyton Brehmer (Boerne, Texas), Maddie Hersh (McLean, Va.), Aleigha Scherber (Burke, Va.), Gracie Sweeney (Old Saybrook, Conn.), Ainsley Toews (Tifton, Ga.), Ally Yeary (Abingdon, Va.) and Angelina Zeidan (Cloverdale, Va.).
 
George Mason has nine juniors with Megan Anderson (Blacksburg, Va.), Alayna Brooker (Aurora, Ohio), Sarah Dichak (Charlotte, N.C.), Lauren Hargnett (Raleigh, N.C.), Kristin Ivey (Greenville, N.C.), Hannah Magdeburg (Pottsville, Pa.), Regan Mooney (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.), Clare Smith (Cary, N.C) and Casey Tingen (Yorktown, Va.) entering their third year.
 
Sophomores include Carly Bates (Virginia Beach, Va.), Greta Mott (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Adelline Oliveira (Muskegon, Mich.).
 
Entering their first year with the Patriots are Madelyn Abel (Quakertown, Pa.), Alexis Brazier (Bristow, Va.), Lucy Daniel (Bristow, Va.), Sidney Kaufman (Midlothian, Va.), Landry Liston (Leesburg, Va.) and Madeline Majewski (Warrington, Pa.).
 
THE PATRIOTS SCHEDULE
 
The George Mason men's and women's swimming and diving teams will compete in eight events with three at home including the annual Patriot Invitational at the Aquatic and Fitness Center.
 
The Patriots opened the campaign at the Potomac Relay Invitational (Sept. 26), hosted by American University at the Reeves Aquatic Center in Washington, D.C.  The men's team placed first and the women's team was fourth.
 
George Mason then hosted Old Dominion (Oct. 3) for the first home meet of the season.  The Patriots' women's team won 10 of 16 events and defeated Old Dominion, 159-103.  The men's team won nine of 16 events and downed the Monarchs, 152-110.
 
The Patriots face dAtlantic 10 Conference opponents for the first time at the Richmond Duals (Oct. 17-18) held at the Hampton Aquaplex in Hampton, Va.  The George Mason men's team took on Davidson in a two-day dual, while the women's team faced Davidson, Duquesne and Richmond in an invitational style event on Friday and competed in a dual against Davidson on day two.
 
The Patriots will travel again to face William & Mary (Nov. 8/12 noon) at the Bee McLeod Recreation Center in Williamsburg, Va.
George Mason will host the annual Patriot Invitational (Nov. 19-22) at the Aquatic and Fitness Center.  Wednesday's opening night relays begin at 5 p.m., while prelims begin at 10 a.m., diving at 1 p.m. and finals at 6 p.m. the final three days.
 
The Patriots are back on the road for a dual against Towson (Dec. 19) with diving at 10 a.m. and swimming at noon at Burdick Pool in Towson, Md.
 
The Patriots will compete in two meets in January with a road dual at Delaware (Jan. 17/12 noon) in Newark, Del., and a home dual against Georgetown (Jan. 24/12 noon).
 
The Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships will be held Feb. 18-21 at the Hampton Aquaplex in Hampton, Va.
