WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The George Mason women's soccer team will travel to Williamsburg to play in-state rival William & Mary this Thursday, August 31. This will be the first time since 2014 that the two schools will meet and Mason's first game in Williamsburg in a decade.

SCOUTING WILLIAM & MARY
The Tribe finished last season with a 7-8-4 overall record and a 3-3-3 Coastal Athletic Conference (CAA) record. They were seeded #7 in the 2022 CAA Tournament and lost to #2 Drexel in the first round.
This season, William & Mary started the first four games unbeaten, going 2-0-2. They opened the season with a 4-0 shutout over Temple. Their next three games were against Atlantic 10 foes, where they played to a a scoreless draw against Saint Joseph's and beat Richmond 1-0. In their most recent game, the Tribe played against VCU, where the game ended in a 1-1 draw. They have only conceded one goal, which was during their most recent game against VCU last Sunday.
The Tribe have scored six goals this season, and Sophomore forward Ivey Crain has been responsible for half of them. The Milton, Ga., native opened the 2023 season with a brace against Temple on Aug. 17, and a recorded one more goal against VCU on August 27.
Senior defender Ginny Delacruz currently leads the team in assists with two. The Fairfax Station native recorded an assist against Temple and one more against VCU.
Goalkeeper duties have been split evenly between junior Morgan Wood and fifth-year Zoe Doughty. Both keepers have recorded exactly 180 minutes in goal, but Doughty has started three games and has allowed the team's only goal.
HISTORY WITH THE TRIBE
William & Mary and Mason have been long-time rivals, dating back to Mason's inaugural 1982 season where the Patriots won the first-ever match up 4-1 in Fairfax. The Tribe, however, leads the all-time head-to-head series 23-14-6.
The Patriots last faced off against the Tribe on
August 24, 2014, when William & Mary edged out Mason 1-0 in Fairfax. The last result the Patriots had in Williamsburg, however, was the season prior, on
August 25, 2013, when the two teams played to a 1-1 draw to open the season. The last time Mason has beaten William & Mary was
September 26, 2010, in a decisive 4-1 match in Fairfax.

Mason will return home this Sunday, September 3, to host Villanova for the first time since 2003. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. and
can be watched on ESPN+. It will also be Mason's Team IMPACT day, where they will recognize Faith, their honorary teammate
that signed with the Patriots back in February.
