Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

FAIRFAX, Va. –
Freshman goalkeeper Ginny Fronk set a career-high eight saves in her third start in goal and forward Jazmine Bennett made her collegiate debut, as the George Mason women's soccer team lost to #5 Virginia 4-0 in their second home game of the season. The Cavaliers have have won over the Patriots for the eleventh straight meeting.

HOW THEY SCORED
VIRGINIA

6' | Maggie Cagle (3), assisted by Yuna McCormack (1) and Talia Staude (2)
27' | Talia Staude (1), assisted by Yuna McCormack (2) and Samar Guidry (1)
58' | Maggie Cagle (4), assisted by Meredith McDermott (2)
88' | Allie Ross (1), assisted by Sarah Brunner (1) and Ella Carter (1)

The Patriots had one shot on goal in the first half with Rachel Eberly's shot on outside the 18-yard box on the right side in the 23rd minute, but it was saved by Virginia's goalkeeper, Victoria Safradin. That would be Safradin's only contribution for the rest of the game, as the Cavaliers stout defense only let the Patriots take one shot on goal.

The Cavaliers scored two goals in the first half, both within the first thirty minutes of the game. Maggie Cagle scored one of her two goals of the evening in the 6th minute after Yuna McCormack sprinted down the left side and kicked a low cross to the far side of the goal. Cagle connected with the incoming cross with a right-footed shot and slotted the ball to the bottom right part of the goal. Yuna McCormack would be responsible for the primary assist again 21 minutes later, when her lob from over 30 yards out connected with Talia Staude's head. Staude's header snuck under the crossbar and into the goal.

Maggie Cagle scored the Cavaliers' third goal in the 58th minute. After the Cavaliers headed the ball into their attacking third, Cagle was able to settle the ball and take a low-lying right-footed shot from inside the box.

With two minutes left in the game, Virginia scored the fourth and final goal of the evening. Sarah Brunner lifted a ball from the right side of the field and into the 6-yard box, where Allie Ross was able to jump over the Mason defenders and head the ball past the rushing Fronk and into the open goal.
