FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's soccer team will play their second home game of the season this Sunday, Aug. 27, as they will host #5 Virginia at 6 p.m. This will be the fourth consecutive season that the Patriots and Cavaliers will face each other in the regular season.
TICKETING INFORMATION
Regular season home games for George Mason Women's Soccer will require a ticket for entry. They are available for purchase online in advance, calling the Athletic Ticket Office at 703-993-3270, or by purchasing at the George Mason Stadium Gate. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for youth 12 and under. Discounted rates are available for groups of 10 or more as well as George Mason faculty and staff.

LAST TIME OUT
Mason is coming back from their Thursday evening game against East Carolina, where
the Pirates downed the Patriots in their third game of the season.
SCOUTING UVA
The Cavaliers finished last season with a 16-4-3 overall record and a 6-2-2 Atlantic Coast Conference record. They were seeded #4 in the 2022 ACC Tournament and were upset in the first round to #5 Duke. Later in the 2022 NCAA Tournament, the Cavaliers were seeded #3 in their region and won their first three games. They lost to the eventual national champions UCLA in the quarterfinals.
Three Cavaliers already have two goals under their belts this season. Sophomores Meredith McDermott and Maggie Cagle, along with freshman Allie Ross, currently share the title with most points scored this season (5). All three forwards have scored two goals and recorded one assist through their first three games. Four other Cavaliers have recorded one goal as well, and they are forwards Sarah Brunner, Maya Carter and Brianna Jablonowski. The fourth player with one goal is midfielder Yuna McCormack.
Graduate student goalkeeper Cayla White has made four saves in total so far. She has not seen any real pressure yet this season, as the Cavaliers have shut out all three of their games, winning their first two by a combined score of 10-0. In their most recent matchup against Michigan, the Cavaliers and Wolverines battled to a scoreless draw in Charlottesville.

Virginia leads the all-time series with the Patriots 15-8-3, with the Cavaliers winning the last ten contests. The last time these two teams met was
last season on August 17, when Virginia defeated the Patriots 3-1 in Charlottesville.
