Fairfax, Va. -- The George Mason wrestling team fell to Drexel, 20-12, in a day match held inside the George Mason Field House.

Prior to the match, Mason honored its three seniors; graduate student Alex Madrigal and seniors Talha Farooq and Neil Schuster.
 
The Patriots got on the board first with a 10-9 decision by Josh Jones against Antonio Minnino at 125 pounds. Drexel's Minnino led throughout the first two periods, but with a takedown Jones took the lead 7-6 early in the third period. Score was knotted at 8-8, and with seven seconds remaining Jones scored another takedown to take the match. Jones improved his record to 7-2 with a win in the extra matches.
 
Drexel won the following six matches to take a 20-3 lead with only three matches remaining. 
 
Redshirt Junior Kyle Davis earned a 7-3 decision against Josh Stillings at 184 to cut the lead to 20-6. Stillings had a two-point reversal with five seconds remaining in the second for his only lead of the match, 3-2. Davis improves his record to 3-1.
 
The bout of the day was at 197 pounds between Mason's Austin Stith and the Dragons Bryan McLaughlin. Drexel's McLaughlin took a 3-1 advantage into the third period. Stith recorded a takedown in sudden death for the win.
 
Mason's Ali Salem finished the match scoring with a 6-3 decision against Derek Rose. Salem led the entire match after an early first period takedown.
 
The Patriots will prepare for the MAC Championship held at Rider, February 26-27.
