FAIRFAX, Va. – For the second straight week, four George Mason track and field athletes have earned weekly honors from the Atlantic 10.Â
George Mason's
Ashley Lewis was named the Co-Women's Track Performer of the Week, while
Autumn White was tabbed the Field Performer of the Week and
Annabelle Eastman earned Women's Rookie of the Week honors. On the men's side, thrower
Jaylen Simmons was named the Field Performer of the Week for the third consecutive week.
Lewis helped the Patriots win the sprint medley relay and she finished second in the 800-meter run at the Raleigh Relays this past weekend in Raleigh, N.C.Â
The junior from Boston, ran the 800-meter anchor leg of the sprint medley relay team as the Patriots finished in 3:47.84 for the fifth-fastest time in the country this season. Lewis also took second in the 800 with a time of 2:06.37, which is the fastest outdoor time in the Atlantic 10 this year.
White finished third in the pole vault at the Raleigh Relays. The sophomore from Forest, Va., cleared a personal-best mark of 3.85 meters, which tied for the best mark in the Atlantic 10 this season.
Eastman set a school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Raleigh Relays. The freshman from Melbourne, Australia, finished 12th in 10:35.13, which is second in the Atlantic 10 this season.
Simmons won the shot put and placed third in the discus at the Fred Hardy Invitational over the weekend at Richmond. The sophomore from Waynesboro, Va., set a personal record in the shot put with a toss of 17.22 meters, which is the longest throw in the Atlantic 10 this year. In the discus, he took third with a heave of 48.86 meters.
