FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason junior
Sarah Kaminski has been recognized for her excellence in the classroom and on the court.
Kaminski was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District First Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday. She was one of just five student-athletes - and the lone junior - selected to the District 3 All-Academic First Team, which includes North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. Kaminski is the first Mason women's basketball player to earn Academic All-District honors since the 2003-04 season.
A shooting guard from Plymouth, Minn., Kaminski boasts a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA. The criminology major has been named a Provost Scholar Athlete twice, along with making the Dean's List all five semesters and being named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll three times.
This past summer, she completed a 10-week internship in the State Department's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL). She worked in Washington D.C., primarily primarily with the bureau's Europe and Asia regions.
She has played in all 25 games this season with 15 starts. She leads the team in 3-pointers made (48) and is tied for eighth all-time at Mason with 131 treys. She also paces the squad in free-throw shooting (.765) this season. She is on the team in steals (24) and fourth in scoring (7.5 points per game).
