BRONX, N.Y. – Jack Ikenberry and
Hunter Jutras earned All-East honors while
Carina Garcia and
Kaitlyn Johnson tabbed All-ECAC honors to highlight a strong showing by the George Mason men's and women's cross country teams at the IC4A/ECAC Championships Saturday morning at Van Cortlandt Park in New York.
In the men's 8k, sophomore Ikenberry and junior Jutras earned All-East selections for finishing in the top-40 out of 143 runners. Ikenberry placed sixth with a time of 25:24, followed by Jutras in 15th with a time of 25:47.
Redshirt freshman
Jack Raymond finished 100th with a time of 27:36 while freshman
Brendan Malone took 128th (28:48). With only four runners, the Mason men had no team score on Saturday.
In the women's 5k race, Garcia crossed the line in ninth with a personal-best time of 18:26, followed by Johnson in 21st (18:52). The pair earned All-ECAC honors for finishing in the top-40 out of 146 runners.
In the final cross country meet of her career, senior
Maggie Morgan finished 45th with a time of 19:22. Junior
Riley Freeland took 65th (19:44) while freshmen
Audrey Corbet and
Sarah Francis finished with a time of 19:51 in 75th and 76th, respectively.
Freshman
Julia Ames (19:56, 81st), junior
Allison Rice (19:56, 82nd) and junior
Sam Wood (PR 20:21, 96th) rounded out the Mason women.
The Mason women placed sixth as a team with 207 points, behind champion Providence (39), runner-up Marist (69), Siena (92), James Madison (124) and Monmouth (190).
