FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's and women's cross country teams will wrap up the 2019 season at the IC4A/ECAC Championships on Saturday at Van Cortlandt Park in New York.
The men will take off on the 8k course at 11:15 a.m., followed by the women on the 5k course at noon.
Last season, both teams placed fourth at the IC4A/ECAC Championships on Nov. 17 in New York. On the women's side, sophomore Siobhra O'Flaherty and senior
Maggie Morgan earned All-ECAC honors for finishing in the top 40. The women posted a score of 141 to take fourth behind champion Temple (23), runner-up Marist (99) and Stony Brook (135).
In the men's field, the Patriots took fourth with a score of 147, behind only champion Stony Brook (25), runner-up Temple (72) and Northeastern (114). The men's and women's fields each featured 18 teams.
Last time out, the Mason men earned its highest team finish since 2016 at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships on Nov. 15. The men placed 16th out of 35 teams with a score of 462. Atlantic 10 All-Conference honorees
Hunter Jutras and
Jack Ikenberry led the men for the fourth time this season. Jutras crossed the line first out of the pair in 54th (31:20.4) while Ikenberry tabbed 62nd with a time of 31:32.0.
The Mason women finished 25th out of a 34-team field with 668 points in the 6k race. Leading the Patriots was junior
Carina Garcia in 50th place with a time of 21:23.2. Senior
Sarah Richart finished next in 150th (22:51.5), followed by Morgan in 161st (22:59.5).
Ikenberry, Jutras,
Brendan Malone and
Jack Raymond will be making the trip for the Mason men.
On the women's side, Morgan,
