FAIRFAX, Va. – For the first time in nearly four weeks, the George Mason women's lacrosse team will play a game in George Mason Stadium.
The Patriots welcome Davidson at 4 p.m. on Friday in their Atlantic 10 home opener. They last played at home on March 10, having played five straight road games.
Mason (8-2, 2-0 A-10) enters the matchup having won four straight and six of seven. The Patriots lead the conference in scoring offense (15.00 goals per game) and are tied for 16th in the country. They also top the A-10 in scoring defense (9.30 goals allowed per game) and rank 13th in the nation.
Goalkeeper
Melissa Semkiw was named the Atlantic 10 Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, marking her second honor this season. She made 23 saves in a pair of wins last week, including 12 at La Salle on Saturday. She ranks sixth in the country in save percentage (.529).
The Wildcats (6-4, 1-1) have won four of five but are coming off a 14-4 loss at Massachusetts on Saturday. They are led by sophomore Jordan Wood, who is fifth in the conference with 27 goals, and senior Rose Woolson, who ranks second in the nation in save percentage (.560).
Mason leads the all-time series 5-2. The teams played twice last season, with the Patriots winning the regular-season finale 19-9 at Davidson. But the Wildcats knocked off Mason less than a week later with a 14-13 victory in the first round of the Atlantic 10 tournament to end the Patriots' season.
