FAIRFAX, Va. – An old foe comes to town before the George Mason women's lacrosse team heads south for spring break.

The Patriots welcome William & Mary at 1 p.m. on Saturday at George Mason Stadium. Mason has played the Tribe 24 times – its second-most matchups against any opponent – dating back to its first season as a program in 1994. The teams met regularly when Mason was still in the Colonial Athletic Association through 2013.

William & Mary leads the all-time series 17-7. But the Patriots defeated the Tribe 9-7 last year in Williamsburg.

The Tribe (2-3) have lost two straight and are coming off a 19-6 loss at Vanderbilt on Monday. All three of their losses have come on the road, with two to top 10 opponents – No. 2 Maryland and No. 6 Virginia. Senior Alexandria Specht and junior Maddie Torgerson lead the team with eight goals apiece.

Mason (3-1) has won three of four to open the season and is coming off a 10-9 victory over Coastal Carolina last Sunday at home. Junior Chachi Kelehan scored four goals and notched an assist for her third five-point game of the season. The attacker from Ellicott City, Md., leads the team with 12 goals and 18 points.

Freshman Erin Donoghue is second on the team with nine goals and the midfielder from Mount Laurel, N.J., has scored multiple goals in three games. Senior Lindsey Tangeman, a native of Winter Park, Fla., leads the team with seven assists in addition to eight goals for 15 points. Sophomore goalkeeper Melissa Semkiw had made 40 saves this season, with three with 10 stops or more. The Frederick, Md., native, also boasts an impressive .533 save percentage.
