FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's and women's track and field teams left their mark on the first Atlantic 10 Conference weekly awards of the outdoor season.
Taylor Williams and
Trent Lancaster were named the A-10 Women's and Men's Track Performers of the Week, respectively. In addition, freshmen
Nick Corbin and
Autumn White were tabbed the A-10 Men's and Women's Rookies of the Week.
Williams won a pair of events at the Dan Stimson Memorial Quad on Saturday in Williamsburg, Va. The sophomore from Columbia, Md., recorded her first collegiate victory as she won the 100 meter dash with a wind-aided time of 12.22. She then ran the third leg of the 4x100-meter relay team, which won in a time of 46.79.
Lancaster, a junior from Sterling, Va., finished second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. His time of 9:16.47 is a personal-best and is the fastest time in the Atlantic 10 this season. It also reached the qualifying mark for the IC4A championships.
Corbin, a freshman from Mechanicsville, Va., took second in the 110 meter hurdles. His wind-aided time of 14.74 is the second-fastest time in the Atlantic 10 this season and was a personal-best. He also ran a personal-best time of 57.65 in the 400 meter hurdles to finish eighth.
White won the pole vault at the Dan Stimson Memorial Quad. The Forest, Va., product cleared an outdoor personal-best mark of 3.69 meters (12' 1.50") for the best jump in the Atlantic 10 this season.
The Patriots split up this weekend, competing in the Fred Hardy Invitational in Richmond and the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C., both on Friday and Saturday.
