FAIRFAX, Va. – If the current indoor season is any indication, the future is bright for the George Mason men's and women's track and field programs.
Nine Patriots were named to the Atlantic 10 Conference Indoor Track & Field All-Rookie Teams, the league announced earlier this week on the heels of the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships over the weekend.
On the men's side,
Nick Corbin (hurdles),
Brian Jackson (jumps),
Davian Powell (sprints),
Avory Ransome (throws),
Harrison Shotwell (pole vault) and
Cameron Steven (middle distance) made the team. For the women, A-10 Championship Most Outstanding Female Rookie
GJaudy John-Wallace (sprints),
Kiana Stallworth (sprints and jumps) and
Autumn White (pole vault) were tabbed to the team.
"We are really pleased to have so many of our first-year student-athletes at the top get recognized," head coach
Andrew Gerard said. "We, as a staff, knew that we were young but this list affirms that our youngsters are on a really good course and the future is certainly bright as they mature and keep developing."
The All-Rookie teams are comprised of the top-rookie performer in each even from meets conducted from the start of the regular season through the Atlantic 10 Championships. The teams were selected based off meet results submitted through the Track & Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS).
The Patriots host the Mason Last Chance on Sunday at the Field House in the final indoor meet prior to the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 9-10 in College Station, Texas.
