FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's and women's cross country teams hope to end the season on a high note.
The Patriots will compete in the IC4A/ECAC Cross Country Championships on Saturday in New York. The men will run in the IC4A Championship on an 8K course at 11:15 a.m., with the women to follow on a 5K course at noon. Both races will be held at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
Last year, both Mason teams finished 13th at the IC4A/ECAC Championships in fields with more than 25 teams.
The Mason women are a week removed from their best performance at the NCAA Southeast Regional in nearly a decade. The Patriots placed 16th at the regional last Friday in Rock Hill, S.C., for their best finish since 2010. They were led by freshman Siobhra O'Flaherty, who placed 26th and earned Atlantic 10 All-Conference honors at the A-10 Championships in October.
On the men's side, the Patriots finished 17th at the NCAA Southeaster Regional Championships. Graduate student
Trent Lancaster placed 59th and fellow grad student
Jonathan Schloth took 62nd. Both also earned A-10 All-Conference honors for their performances at the A-10 Championships as the men took fifth as a team.
