FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason freshman Síobhra O'Flaherty made quite the first impression in her collegiate debut over the weekend.

On Tuesday, the Atlantic 10 rewarded the runner, naming her the A-10 Women's Rookie of the Week after she placed second at the Mason Invitational on Saturday.

O'Flaherty ran a time of 21:58.1 on the 6K course at Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg. A native of Carlow, Ireland, she spent last year at the University of Limerick in Ireland but did not compete athletically. 

The newcomer paced the Patriots, who placed five runners in the top nine and ran away with first place with a score of 25. 

O'Flaherty and her teammates return to action next weekend with the Princeton Invitational on Oct. 12 in Princeton, N.J.
