FAIRFAX, Va. – After a strong showing at the Princeton Invitational last week, the George Mason men's cross country team has been recognized as one of the top teams in the Southeast Region.
The Patriots jumped into the Southeast Regional rankings at No. 15 on Monday, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced. It marks the first time since last year that the Patriots have been regionally ranked.
The men's team finished seventh at the Princeton Invitational on Friday. The Patriots defeated eight regionally ranked teams in the field, including Atlantic 10 foes George Washington (ranked No. 11 in the Mid-Atlantic Region) and La Salle (No. 12 in the Mid-Atlantic). Seniors
Trent Lancaster (29th) and
Jonathan Schloth (39th) each finished in the top 40 to lead the Patriots.
The men's and women's teams will both be back in action on Oct. 27 at the Atlantic 10 Conference Championships in Mechanicsville, Va.
