FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason men's and women's cross country teams were both named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic teams for the 2025 season. This year's accolade marks the 18th consecutive year both Mason programs have received this recognition.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period. Men's cross country posted a team GPA of 3.48 and the women's cross country team registered a team GPA of 3.52. Both teams once again earning All-Academic honors highlights a long-standing culture of excellence, both on the course and the classroom, that has been recognized annually since 2008.
Alongside the team honors, graduate student Ella Semple was named a USTFCCCA All-Academic athlete for her individual achievements.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships.
In her second season with the Patriots, Semple earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete honors for the first time while pursuing her Master of Science in Management with a graduate certificate in Business Analytics at the Costello College of Business. She accomplished this achievement following a stellar 2025 cross country season marked by an individual title and Most Outstanding Performer award at the Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championships as well as a 20th-place finish in a field of over 250 runners at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships.
