Bronx, N.Y. - The George Mason cross country teams traveled north on Saturday to compete in the IC4A/ECAC Championships and Laura Sinclair capped her terrific season by finishing in second place at the meet. The sophomore ran the 5-kilometer race in 17 minutes and 27.4 seconds, just under seven seconds behind James Madison's Alison Parris, who finished first. The women' team finished sixth out of 12 teams and the men also finished sixth out of 19 teams. The women received 174 points and the men tallied 189 points in the meet which was held at Van Cortland Park in the Bronx, N.Y.
Duke won the men's race with 44 points and James Madison won the women's with 47 points. On the women's side three of the top six teams were from the CAA, with William and Mary finishing second.
In the ECAC Championship, Rochelle Sceats was Mason's next best runner for the women's team, finishing in a time of 18:27.6, which was good for 27th place. Mason's other top finishers were Sandy Castro (31st, 18:35.7), Nao Ma (56th, 19:03.7), Victoria Samyn (70th, 19:23.1), and Jennifer Spencer (91st, 20:01.8).
In the IC4A Championship, Everett Hackett was Mason's top finisher, coming in 16th place out of 162 racers. He ran the five mile course in a time of 25:28.0. Michael Conway (37th) and John Holt (43rd) were the next best racers running the course in times of 25:50.7 and 25:55.6, respectively. Other Mason top finishers included Robert Reynolds (45th, 25:58.5), Andrew Pitts (48th, 26:01.6), Parker Boudreau (50th, 26:04.0), Daniel Callan (59th, 26:12.7), Sean Nestor (64th, 26:17.7), Phillip Blankership (71st, 26:21.3), Andrew McGreal (87th, 26:33.7), and Robert Krause (92nd, 26:40.2). Christian Gonzalez of Rider University won the race with a time of 24:52.7.
