Nittany Lion Invitational Results
The George Mason men's and women's cross country both ran earlier today with the men's team running in the Nittany Lion Invitational and the women's race taking place at the Princeton Invitational.
The men took place in a 5.2 mile race at the Nittany Lion Invitational in State College, PA. 27 teams took place in the race and Mason finished tenth overall with 262 points. Syracuse finished first with 61 points. Mason's top finisher was Everett Hackett with a time of 25:42, which was good for 11th place, and his average mile was 4:56. It was the second consecutive race that Hackett was the top finisher for Mason. Other Mason top finishers included Scott Tekesky (26:08) who finished 35th, Robert Reynolds (26:21) who came in 50th place, Michael Conway (26:47) who finished 77th, Philip Blankenship (26:56) who came in 89th, Andrew Pitts (27:03) who finished 98th, and finishing in 100th place was John Holt with a time of 27:04
The women took place in 6k race at the Princeton Invitational, in Princeton, New Jersey, with 12 total teams. The team finished in 7th place with 162 points and Iona came in first with 58 points. Sophomore Laura Sinclair finished first overall for the third consecutive race with a time of 21:40.80. She finished 37 seconds ahead of the next fastest runner, Maureen O'Donnell of St. Joseph's. Sandy Castro was the only other Mason runner to finish in the top 20, and came in 15th place with a time of 22:53.40. The only other top-50 finisher was Samantha Fickel (28th) with a time of 23:36.60.
Both teams return to action on Saturday, October 30th at the CAA Championships in Wilmington, N.C. Races are scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
