Malachi DuVall punched his ticket to the NCAAs today, while #27
Logan Messer will compete for a championship in the finals heading into the final day at the 2026 MAC Wrestling Championships held inside Alumni Arena in Buffalo, NY.
Messer and DuVall will compete for the individual championship, while several Patriots will compete in the wrestlebacks in their quest to earn a spot in the NCAA Championship.
It will be the third straight trip to the NCAA Championship for DuVall, while Messer needs to finish a true second to earn his first.
DuVall will compete for the individual championship against top seed Sal Perrine from Ohio. DuVall won two matches to stand at 99 career wins. DuVall gets his revenge with a SV win over second seed J.McGill from Edinboro, 7-4, in the semifinals.
Messer won three straight matches and made history with his 100
th career win. In the semis, Messer earned a big win over #22 Garett Thompson of Ohio.The senior will battle with E. Munguia from Rider for the title tomorrow at 174 pounds. He passed Sean Shea (7th) and is three shy of 103 to tie Adrian Austin (6th).
DJ McGee dropped the semifinal match to D. Raike from Ohio, 4-2. He will work to earn his third straight trip to the NCAAs through wrestlebacks tomorrow.
Freshman
Tate Hisey won his first match by technical fall before dropping the quarterfinal match to Edinboro's J. Brenneman. Hisey won the first consolation match and will continue to compete tomorrow.
Jack Kelly won his opening match by major decision before dropping the match to Ohio's Lehman. He earned a fall (6:31) 20-2 against E. Wiant (Clarion). He will wrestle tomorrow against N. Noster from SIUE.
After losing their opening matches, Ben Monn (125) and
Anthony Lucchiani (141) won the match in the wrestlebacks and will compete tomorrow.

Kaden Cassidy (16-1) defaulted both matches but hopes to return to the NCAA Championship as an at-large. He wasn't medically cleared in time for the MAC Championships but will be for the NCAA Championships according to head coach
