Patriots Host GW for Senior Day

FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason women's basketball team will host George Washington on Saturday, February 21. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and the Monumental Network with tip-off set for 3 p.m ET with Steve Kolbe and Debbie Taneyhill on the call. Tommy Buckles and Simon Burts will be on the GoMason Digital Network starting at approximately 2:45 p.m. ET.

This is the 51st matchup between the Patriots and Revolutionaries. George Mason has won the last five matchups, but George Washington leads the overall series 30-20.

SCOUTING THE REVOLUTIONARIES

George Washington enters with a 14-14 overall record and a 6-9 mark in conference play. The team averages 61.9 points per game while allowing 60.6 points per game, resulting in a +1.3 scoring margin. GWU shoots 41.6% from the field, 31.2% from three-point range, and 73.2% from the free throw line. They average 5.4 made three-pointers and 11.8 made free throws per game. On the glass, the Colonials average 35.0 rebounds per game with a +1.4 rebound margin. Defensively, they hold opponents to 38.6% shooting and 30.0% from three. The team averages 11.7 assists, 15.9 turnovers, 6.9 steals, and 3.8 blocks per game, with a 0.73 assist/turnover ratio and a -1.71 turnover margin.

Individually, Gabby Reynolds leads the team in scoring with 14.1 points per game, totaling 380 points. She shoots 43.1% from the field, 35.6% from three (37-104), and 81.1% from the free throw line (73-90). Sara Lewis averages 10.8 points per game while shooting 46.1% from the field and 76.9% from the line, with 90 made free throws. Kamari Sims adds 8.6 points per game with 31 made three-pointers, and Emma Theodorsson contributes 7.4 points per game with 22 made threes. Jaeda Wilson averages 5.7 points per game and shoots 78.3% from the free throw line.

In conference play, GWU averages 57.3 points per game and allows 58.9. Reynolds averages 13.8 points in conference games, while Lewis averages 12.2 points and shoots 46.8% from the field in those contests. Sims averages 8.1 points in conference play, and Wilson contributes 6.2 points per game while shooting 84.6% from the free throw line. Tanah Becker averages 3.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game overall, while Lewis averages 5.4 rebounds per game and Reynolds averages 4.5 rebounds per game. The team has recorded 980 total rebounds, 327 assists, 193 steals, and 107 blocks through 28 games.

  • The George Mason coaching staff added a few new pieces and promoted two key staff members this off season. Demetria Frank was promoted to Associate Head Coach and Nigel Bowden was promoted to Director of Basketball Operations. Lauren Stack and Kate McCarney joined as graduate assistants, and Brandon Stewart was appointed Director of Player Personnel.
